Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Although he's partnered with Dr. Duong for over 10 years, dentistry actually runs in Dr. Kuan’s family. His dad had a dental office (first started by his grandfather) that he spent some time working in during his college years and for a little while after graduation. While in his junior year of college, Dr. Kuan realized that he didn’t want to ignore his love of science and changed his major from computer science to biology. Dentistry just felt like the perfect fit, and over a decade later, he’s happy to have been right about that!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After graduating from San Jose State with his undergraduate degree, Dr. Kuan pursued his doctorate at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, completing the only three-year dental program in the country! Today, he has a particular interest in creating natural-looking restorative work like fillings and dental crowns, as well as performing extractions. He regularly attends continuing education courses on these topics so that his skills are constantly improving.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Kuan is the oldest of three and has two younger sisters, one of whom is a high school teacher while the other works as a chiropractor. He met his wife Diana here in Dallas, and she’s also a dentist. They have an Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix named Gracie at home. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his lovely wife, cooking, eating meals with family and friends, and listening to music. He’s always up for checking out new bands in live venues!
